Martial Arts Program – Fall Session
Session Dates: August 28 – October 16, 2025
When: Thursday evenings, 6:00 PM – 7:00 PM
Where: Deer Creek Recreation Building
Join us for a fun, engaging Martial Arts program designed for both kids and adults! Our experienced instructors focus on helping students build confidence, improve self-esteem, and learn how to avoid physical conflict. This is a practical, self-defense-focused program; no traditional forms or katas are taught.
Students will learn multiple self-defense techniques tailored to real-life situations, and progress through our belt ranking system, from White to Black Belt.
Program Highlights:
Group calisthenics and stretching
Basic punching and kicking
Sparring (with provided safety gear: helmets, hand pads, and foot pads)
Belt rank advancement opportunities
Foam-padded mats for a safe training environment
Meet the Instructor:
Our Martial Arts Coordinator, Jeff Obst, brings over 45 years of martial arts experience and more than 35 years in law enforcement. A certified Fifth-Degree Black Belt, Jeff has trained with instructors from the U.S. Secret Service, Milwaukee County Sheriff’s Department, Greater St. Louis Training Academy, and more. He’s taught at YMCA programs, Marquette University Public Safety, and the Milwaukee Suburban Police Academy. Jeff is also a nationally recognized leader in community relations, having created award-winning programs throughout his career.
